The floatron was inspired by the same technology used by NASA aboard the Apollo spacecraft to maintain pure drinking water. The device begins producing ions immediately after being placed in a pool when exposed to sunlight and will produce ion levels sufficient for pool purification within two weeks (depending on pool volume) provided insolation levels are sufficient. Read the 1992 evaluation report by the Florida Solar Energy Center.
We invented and sell the original, authentic floatron. When you unbox your new floatron, you will marvel at its elegant simplicity and the robust quality of materials used in its iconic design. The copycat versions typically are made of a cheap, light-weight plastic (which becomes brittle quickly) and a less robust solar panel. A real floatron is made in the USA with time tested materials; there are no moving parts, and there's a very high degree of weather, water, sunlight, and chemical resistance, ensuring a long and productive product life. The solar (photovoltaic) panel is made with high efficiency, crystalline cells, ensuring many years of output. Most importantly, our mineral electrode is specially alloyed and extruded to provide a unique combination of minerals for your water. Finally. we have a reputation for outstanding customer service backed by a 24-month warranty.

Many of our customers report they've had their floatron for decades. With regular, simple maintenance, and a yearly replacement of the electrode, you should be able to enjoy your floatron for years to come.
Many of our customers have written to tell us they have used their original floatron for decades.
floatron ionized water falls within EPA established drinking water standards and avoids the toxicity of high chemical levels.
Additionally, the electrical current produced by the solar panel is very small (only about 5 volts). The floatron is safe. Swimming with the unit is perfectly normal.
floatron offers a 24-month coverage against a defect in materials or workmanship. Additional coverage may be available for a nominal extra charge.

Replace the electrode when it's “pencil thin”, or about 1/4 of an inch at the thinnest point, and at the very latest, replace it before the electrode dissolves into pieces. Average life is about 1-2 seasons or approximately 1 year (depending on pool size, conditions, and length of season). You can buy replacements here.
The basket does not normally need replacing unless damaged or lost. If yours appears clogged up with calcium, try soaking overnight in vinegar or in light acid/water mix.
The floatron comes complete with everything you need, however, you can purchase replacement parts here.
